Lisa Heacock is a skilled, intuitive equestrian teacher. She uses her dressage ie "training" knowledge to enable her students to move their skills forward, deepening their connection with the horse. My time with Lisa has resulted in a more secure seat and ever more lightness in my aids - which makes my horse happier with me.
As for rider fitness, my husband and I have learned much from our equine/exercise class. Lisa makes the riding part interesting and fun, as we work on skills, especially better balance.
Over all, you can look far and wide and never find a more effective and "in tune with you" teacher than Lisa Heacock to guide you to becoming a better rider.

My daughter began Lessons with Lisa nearly 2 years ago when she was 9 years old. At the time, we were looking at horseback riding lessons, not only for the sake of learning a skill and because my daughter loved horses and had been begging to ride for years, but we were also looking for an activity to build confidence and success in a child that was due for a little more of both.
Having ridden for many years myself and knowing the needs of my daughter, I had a good idea of what I was looking for in an instructor and until I met Lisa, I had not found it. Lisa balances her expansive knowledge and clear instruction with equal amounts of patience and kindness. She cares as much about the rider as she does about the horse and it shows. She uses her experience to expose her students to not only riding technique but also, horse care and knowledge which is imperative for any equestrian.
In these two short years, I can say that all of our original objectives have been met and continue to be met each week. My daughter has found great success in something she loves to do. Lessons with Lisa has been a Godsend in her life. Horseback riding is an activity whose reach goes far beyond just the physical motions involved. It has brought the happiness and success my daughter needs and deserves. And I can say with full confidence that any other rider can expect to achieve the similar results with Lisa as their teacher.

I had been looking for a riding instructor for my 10 year old son that would be a good match. Knowing my son and being a former teacher/western rider I really wanted a person to match his learning style, be kind, patient and make his formal riding experience positive and meaningful. Once I met Lisa and observed how she began the riding lesson, communicated with my son, worked with the horse and progressed through the session I was joyfully impressed with her as an instructor. My son is excited and looks forward to his lessons with Lisa. I am so happy that Lisa has started my son on the right foot with caring for a horse, grooming, saddling, riding, working on his seat/balance, keeping light hands and enjoying being around horses. I am very grateful to Lisa for making riding lessons such a wonderful life long learning experience.

I am an avid horseback rider who has ridden for decades. For the last few years I have known my body hasn't been perfectly balanced and that my horses react to that by "drifting." I had searched for answers and taken a multitude of lessons sporting differing modalities, but no one was able to "nail" what my issue was. Some couldn't see it and others considered it no big deal, but it bugged me. Last year I was thrilled to learn that practically in my own backyard, lived Lisa and her friend Gaylene, who have a group exercise/riding class every week.
It has been fabulous! The exercise and the seat work on a lounge line are never boring and feel like play. I am having a great time and am a stronger and better rider because of it. Lisa has lovely horses, a wonderful arena with natural light and no dust, and she listens! She takes her role as a teacher seriously, offering new ideas until the light dawns. I recommend Lisa to anyone who wants to build on their skills - or simply wants to start! Ride with Lisa!
